Missaukee County Jail Roster Overview
The Missaukee County Sheriff's Office publishes jail information, inmate accounts, inmate communication rules, visitation rules, and public-record request instructions. It does not publish a public online current-inmate roster, recent-bookings report, booking profile page, or roster search form in the official materials reviewed. That is the central fact for Missaukee County inmate records: the local jail is real, but the roster path is phone and records based.
The county jail is operated by the Missaukee County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Wilbur "Wil" Yancer is named on the sheriff page, and Lt. Jesse Harwood is listed as Jail Administrator. The jail holds local pretrial detainees, people serving short county sentences, warrant detainees, probation or parole holds, and people waiting for transfer. Sentenced state prisoners should be searched through MDOC OTIS, not treated as a county jail roster result.
Lookup Missaukee County Inmates
Because there is no official roster portal to open, the practical Missaukee County inmate lookup is a channel-by-channel process. Use the jail for immediate custody. Use a written sheriff records request when a copy of a booking record, incident report, or photo is needed. Use court records after a complaint or other charging document has been filed.
- Call Corrections at (231) 839-4338 ext. 2 for a current local custody inquiry.
- Provide the person's full legal name, date of birth if known, and approximate arrest date.
- Search MiCOURT Case Search after arraignment or filing if court records are the need.
- Submit a sheriff records request for jail booking records, incident reports, photos, or related law-enforcement records.
- Use Michigan VINE for custody and release notifications, not as a full booking file.
- Search MDOC OTIS, BOP, or ICE only if the person may have moved outside local county jail custody.
Missaukee County Roster Fields
The official site does not expose searchable roster fields, so the useful field table is a request and inquiry table. Good identifiers reduce confusion and help staff find the correct record. A phone call is best for current custody; a written request is better for a record copy.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| No public online roster located | n/a | n/a | The county site does not provide a searchable current-inmate form. |
| Phone custody inquiry | Phone | Identifying details needed | Call Corrections and be ready with name, date of birth, and approximate arrest date. |
| Public-record request | PDF or written letter | Requester contact and record description | Ask for the specific jail, booking, incident, photo, or other record type. |
| Case search | Online court portal | Name or case number | Use MiCOURT or court contacts after charges are filed. |
The Sheriff's Office FOIA and reports page says written requests are answered within five working days or sooner depending on scope, nature, and staff availability. Fees depend on retrieval time, separation of exempt and non-exempt material, copying, and mailing.
Missaukee County Inmate Profile Fields
No official Missaukee County public inmate profile could be inspected because no county roster profile was located. Requested records may still include booking or incident data if releasable. Court records may show the filed case, while jail records may show custody, intake, bond processing, and booking facts.
| Field | What It Shows or How to Request It |
|---|---|
| Name | Provide full legal name for phone inquiries and written requests. |
| Date of birth | Useful to separate people with similar names; not posted in a public roster located. |
| Booking date/time | Request as booking or intake record if needed. |
| Charges | Booking charges can differ from filed charges; verify court records after prosecutor review. |
| Bond | Confirm the current amount, hold status, and payment method with jail or court staff. |
| Mugshot / photo | Request through the sheriff form by selecting Photos or describing the requested booking image. |
| Release status | Call Corrections for current custody and use VINE for notification alerts. |
Missaukee Jail and Prison Search
Missaukee County inmate records split by custody system. The county jail covers fresh arrests, pretrial detention, short sentences, warrants, and transfer holds. | Custody Type | Where to Look | Important Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or short county sentence | Missaukee County Jail phone and sheriff records process | No official public online roster was located. |
| State prison, parole, probation | Michigan Department of Corrections OTIS | OTIS is not a new county booking database. |
| Federal sentence | Federal BOP inmate locator | BOP results do not show county jail mugshots. |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | ODLS is separate from sheriff and court records. |
Custody pointer: A person can post local bond and still remain held if another agency has a detainer or no-bond hold.

Missaukee County Booking Process
A local arrest can begin with a sheriff's deputy, Michigan State Police trooper, warrant service, or another local law-enforcement contact. The sheriff's Uniformed Law Enforcement page lists warrant arrests, inmate transport, courtroom security, and court testimony as duties that connect patrol work to jail and court records. After arrest, the person is transported to the county jail for intake.
Booking is not the same as a court conviction. Intake can include identity checks, property inventory, fingerprints, photos, medical or security screening, housing decisions, and bond or first-appearance steps. The prosecutor then reviews and authorizes formal charges where appropriate. That is why an early jail charge, a later court charge, and a final disposition can differ.
- Booking
- The jail intake record created after arrest.
- Arraignment
- An early court appearance where charges and bond may be addressed.
- Personal recognizance
- Release based on a promise to appear and obey conditions.
- Remand
- A court order placing or keeping a person in custody.
Missaukee County Visitation Rules
Missaukee County Jail visits are appointment based. Each inmate is allowed one visit per week from an approved visitation list. The inmate gives the Jail Administrator or designee up to five proposed visitors, and all visitors require approval. No more than two visitors may visit at one time, and people age 16 or under must have a parent or guardian present.

| Saturday | 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. | In-person, by appointment |
Visitors must sign in, complete the visitor log, present valid photo ID, follow rules posted in the visitation area, and avoid disrupting jail operations. Appointment slots are half-hour blocks arranged by calling Corrections.
Contact Missaukee County Inmates
Personal mail must be sent as postcards unless attorney-client communication applies. The address format is the inmate's name, Missaukee County Jail, PO Box 800, Lake City, MI 49651. The county says incoming personal mail must be free from inappropriate material, non-postcards are returned to sender, and perfume-scented mail is returned.
Inmates cannot receive incoming phone calls. Phones are available from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and the jail uses CIDNET devices in each cell. Family and friends create accounts at CIDNET.net for phone, video, text, and account services. Corrections officers and dispatch will not pass verbal or written messages.

Missaukee County Records Requests
The Missaukee County Sheriff's Office FOIA page is the official local source for requesting copies when an online roster does not provide the needed inmate record.
The page supports the core Missaukee County records workflow: use the jail phone for current custody, then use the written request process when a copy of a booking, incident, photo, or other sheriff record is needed.
